Scarlet Haze - 2007

Minneapolis, MN

It's about time female artists rule the rock genre, busting the seams of what has been known, in the past, to be a male-dominated scene. It's a demanding new trend which predicts that girl-led, Scarlet Haze may soon become the next band to the top the charts. This success story will only get bigger and better, but looking back, it was only a matter of time before they would find themselves evolving into what they are today.

Scarlet Haze is what you get when you combine lead singer/songwriter Kat Perkins with drummer Shane Speltz, bassist Tony Wilson, and guitarist, Casey Smith.  On stage, this foursome is unmistakably in love with playing their music.  Together they create a unique high-energy sound that draws even the untrained eyes and ears into the exceptional, original product they are delivering.  The Midwest has seen nothing of the like.

While their success was undeniable and growing, no one predicted that the next stepping-stone in Scarlet Haze's career would be hitting the stage with Bon Jovi at a sold out concert at the Target Center in Minneapolis.  Leading with 15,160 votes in four days of voting, Scarlet Haze won the Battle of the Bands contest through local radio station, KQRS.  An arena stage, sold out crowd, TV cameras, paparazzi, and butterflies could not stop the band from leaving their mark as the next top rock band to emerge from the Twin Cities.

In October of 2006, Scarlet Haze won a Minnesota Music Award for Out of the Dark as "Best Hard Rock Recording of the Year" and was also nominated by the Academy for the "Best Rock Artist/Group of the Year". Soon after, drummer Shane Speltz was honored as a featured artist in the December 2006 issue of Modern Drummer magazine.  By the end of 2006, Scarlet Haze had sold several thousand copies of Out of the Dark, surpassing the stats for a breakout independent release.  Scarlet Haze has already begun planning the release of their second album.
